LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER

I can assure you I've likely been wherever you are now.

I've lived paycheck-to-paycheck. I've made a ton of money.

I've dug my head in the sand and refused to deal with my finances. I've been obsessed with my finances downloading every app known to man.

I've fallen victim to consumerism ( I was cute but I was broke). I've tried the F.I.R.E. approach.

I've had poor credit. I've had amazing credit.

I've rented. I've owned.

I've pretty much done everything in between.

My name is Star B. Melancon, I'm a personal finance strategist, CEO, and founder of SHEbuildingHER.

My journey started in the San Francisco Bay Area, as a bio-pharmaceutical Microbiologist.

Working in corporate gave me a clear view of the expanding wealth gap between women (specifically of color) and everyone else.

As I made more and more money in my "dream" job, I realized I was NOT creating wealth, and had no idea where to start.

The Star Method Personal Finance Membership is a culmination of all the tips, hacks, and ah-ha moments I gained while fixing my finances and helping other women do the same.

When I stopped playing by society's rules and realized money was truly a tool. My wealth grew.

I now embrace myself as a person who lives in the "colorful space" of personal finance. Traditional methods didn't work for me. My life and upbringing was different than what's being taught in the financial literacy space today.

As a full-time entrepreneur and business owner, I believes that women deserve equity, and equitable financial experiences.

I want to invest in stocks AND buy the Chanel bag. Better yet, I want my daily Starbucks AND money to retire.

I am a native of Oakland, CA, a wife, mother of 2 boys, Disney enthusiast, and a first generation HBCU graduate.
